"Gee Honey!  This is the best zombie barf that I have ever tasted!  mmmmm!"
Like I mentioned in my Halloween Zombie Brain recipe, zombie mania is huge this year!  Las Vegas is the biggest Halloween party of them all and this city will be zombie central next week.       Many people want to be zombies for Halloween this year and that is great for the Halloween costume and makeup business.  For those who wish to experience the zombie dining experience, regurgitated zombie barf is a great entree to start with.  Sharing is caring!  Cooking zombie barf for the ones that you love, is surely going to be rewarded with thanks.  The aroma of this steaming zombie barf recipe will surely put a smile on any demented face!      This zombie barf is actually a very tasty frittata.  The eggs are flavored with Thai green curry paste and Indian cilantro chutney.  Those two additions to the eggs creates a nice natural zombie green color.  Pre-made bottled cilantro chutney is available at Indian markets.  Good Thai green curry paste can be found in asian markets.     The toppings for the zombie barf frittata are meant to represent the items that may be in a zombie's tummy and the toppings represent pieces of a decomposing zombie's digestive tract.  Zombies seem to put a little bit of themselves into everything they make, even if it is zombie barf!     I did chose to use some bottled Green Hof's Sauce to paint the plate.  Hof's Sauce is named after Dennis Hof, America's business pimp.  Dennis Hof owns a few brothels in Nevada and he owns the Area 51 Travel Center on Route 95 at Lathrop Wells near the old Nevada Test Site.  The Alien Cathouse brothel is located at the Area 51 Travel Center.  There is a gift shop that has Area 51 collectibles and Nevada brothel memorabilia at the travel center.  This is where you can find bottles of the authentic Green Hof's Sauce!       If you wish to read more about the Area 51 Travel Center, I posted a nice food blog article about the Alien Bar & Grill restaurant at the Area 51 Travel Center a few months ago.  Here is the link:     Area 51 Burger at the Alien Cafe            Las Vegas is loaded with great Halloween theme shows and haunted houses.  Many residents of Las Vegas cannot get enough of the creepy Halloween haunted houses and they spend the entire month of October experiencing every haunted house in the Las Vegas Valley.  Others are satisfied with going to just a few haunted houses.  I will be featuring a few of the Las Vegas Halloween haunted houses in food blog articles this week.    The first choice was one of the Haunted Houses that are located in my end of town.  The Hotel Fear!  Hotel Fear looks like an old run down hotel from a horror movie.  An old horror movie cliche dialogue was running through my mind as I approached Hotel Fear!  "Gosh Honey, this looks like a charming peaceful hotel and it is located off of the noisy Las Vegas Strip!  Lets stay here while in Las Vegas!"  Mwahahaha!     Hotel Fear is one of the best haunted house attractions in the Las Vegas Valley!  By the horror code of ethics, I cannot describe what goes on within Hotel Fear.  That would ruin the suspense!  The ticket prices are nice and the living dead creatures outside of the Hotel Fear are somewhat charming.  In fact, I had a pleasant conversation with one of the living dead at Hotel Fear.       As it turned out, the living dead guy that I talked to at Hotel Fear was a devoted paranormal investigator.  Paranormal activity investigation is a serious business these days.  During our chat, I mentioned that I worked for six weeks at the Furnace Creek Inn at Death Valley last summer.  That old creepy inn is notorious for ghost sightings and unexplained paranormal activity.  The paranormal investigator said that he had heard about the Furnace Creek Inn!  We also chatted about the Asylum, which is the haunted house attraction that is located on Fremont Street.  Both the Hotel Fear and the Asylum are run by same company.  Here is a link for the Asylum and Hotel Fear web site:  Las Vegas Haunts    The name of the paranormal investigating group has the theme of Investigations Of Spiritual Activity on their business card.  SJ Baptista is the founder.  They do accept paranormal investigation requests 24/7.  I do not post phone numbers at my blog, unless it is a known reference, but here are two links to this groups paranormal investigative information:  The True ISA Youtube and The True ISA Facebook.  Like always, I advise precautionary measures for any dealings with third party groups, organizations and businesses.  Paranormal investigators do tend to be more interested in capturing evidence of ghostly activity, than committing some kind of scam.  Who knows, ghosts have a way of making people famous these days!     Of course I highly recommend the Hotel Fear for visitors of Las Vegas and Locals alike.  Hotel Fear is located on Craig Road in a plaza at the intersection of Revere.  Hotel Fear is close to the Cannery Casino Resort in North Las Vegas and it is just a short distance west on Craig Road from I-15.  Hotel Fear looks like a quiet old peaceful run down hotel from the outside, but who knows what kind of evil lurks behind the entrance door!
Halloween Zombie Barf Recipe:     This is actually a unique frittata recipe!     Boil a few pieces of occhi di lupo pasta till they become al dente.  (Occhi di lupo pasta translates to wolf's eye pasta.  Wolf's eye pasta is perfect for this recipe!  Any wide tube pasta can be used.)     Cool the pasta under cold running water.     Drain the water off of the pasta and set it aside.     Heat a saute pan over medium/medium low heat.     Add 1/2 tablespoon of blended olive oil.     Add a few thick sliced pieces of onion.     Saute till the onion just starts to become tender.     Add a few small pieces of red bell pepper.     Add 4 thin slices of green jalapeno pepper.     Add 4 to 5 asparagus tips.     Add 1 thin slice of delicatessen ham that s cut into wide ribbon slices.     Add 3 long green onion tops.     Saute till the vegetables start to become tender and till a few light brow highlights appear on the ham  ribbons.     Place the ingredients in a bowl and set them aside.     Heat a saute pan over medium/medium low heat.     Add 1/2 tablespoon of blended olive oil.     Add 1 large handful of small fresh spinach greens.     Saute and stir, till the spinach wilts.     Place the wilted spinach in a bowl and set it aside.     Place 2 eggs in a mixing bowl.     Add 1/2 tablespoon of Thai green curry paste.     Add 1 tablespoon of Indian cilantro chutney.     Whisk the ingredients together.     Heat a non-stick saute pan over medium/medium low heat.     Add 3 pats of unsalted butter.     Add the egg mixture.     Cook the frittata, till it becomes firm on the bottom half and so the top half of the eggs are uncooked and runny.     Remove the pan from the heat.     Place dabs of the wilted spinach on the uncooked top half of the frittata.     Arrange the sauteed vegetables and ham on the green colored frittata, so they give the appearance of some kind of barf!     Arrange the few pieces of wolf's eye pasta on the frittata, so they resemble pieces of zombie intestines.     Use a spoon to drizzle a few dabs of imported Italian canned crushed tomato over the frittata, so it resembles blood.     Season the toppings with sea salt and black pepper.     Sprinkle a very small amount of mozzarella cheese over the frittata.     Sprinkle a few drops of olive oil over the frittata.     Place the pan with the frittata into a 325 degree oven.     Bake till the eggs on the top half of the frittata become fully cooked.  (Try not to let the frittata toppings brown.)     Slide the zombie barf frittata onto a plate.     Pour and sprinkle some bottled green hot sauce (green jalapeno pepper sauce) on the plate around the zombie barf frittata, so it looks like green barf splatters.     No garnish is necessary!
Spicy good tasting zombie barf!  Zombie barf for breakfast is a great start for Halloween day.  Yum!  ...  Shawna
