Gourmet Cupcakes!
     The Retro Bakery in Las Vegas specializes in timeless nostalgic cupcake flavors and special custom cakes for all occasions!  The Retro Bakery is located at 7785 North Durango Drive near the intersection of Highway 95 in the north end of Las Vegas.  The bakery is located in a small plaza on the north side of Durango.     I have a Swedish professional wrestler friend who is a big time fan of good cupcakes!  I always let him know when I post a review of a Las Vegas gourmet cupcake shop.  Before long, many of his friends in Sweden are making nice comments about how nice the cupcakes look!  In europe, extensive design work seems to be more important when creating a cupcake than thinking of great flavor combinations and a presentation to match.  Many european bakeries use stencils, air brushing and marzipan to artistically decorate cupcakes with a modern stylish flair, but the flavor combinations are not as bold or creative as American bakery cupcakes!       If you seek top notch creative cupcake flavor combinations with relevant presentation design, then Las Vegas should be your number one choice of destination for doing a gourmet cupcake bakery tour!     What the Retro Bakery does best, is create cupcake flavors and presentations that bring back memories of the favorite flavors of years gone by!  The Retro Bakery offers old time flavors like Drumstick (Drumstick Ice Cream Cones!), Retro (Hostess Chocolate Cupcakes!), Pink Lemonade (A lemonade stand favorite!) or Coffee and Doughnuts (Everybody likes coffee and glazed doughnuts!)     Several other nostalgic cupcake flavors are offered at the Retro Bakery like Cherry Cheesecake, Blueberry Pancake, Red Carpet, Apple Cider, Peanut Butter Cup, Pucker Up, Mocha Java, Pistachio, Happy Birthday and the number one best seller Hopscotch!  These are nice old fashioned flavors that are favorites of many people!  Many of the cupcake flavors mimic old fashioned candy flavors that have not been available for a very long time.  My hat goes off as I salute the Retro Bakery for sticking with a sweet one of a kind theme for a nice line of cupcakes!     The Retro bakery also offers some very nicely crafted cookies!  The old fashioned cookies looked really great!     While waiting to place my order, I thumbed through the Retro Bakery picture book of specialty cakes and wedding cakes.  There were so many great cake designs!  One cake design that I really liked was a glossy looking gigantic Chinese fortune cookie shaped cake with a lucky fortune message hanging out of the cookie!       The cake design choices ranged from periodic relic nostalgia to some very creative modern creations.  Nearly any nostalgic theme or relic cake design that you can possibly think of was already well thought out and offered by the Retro Bakery.  The pastry chefs at the Retro Bakery do some fantastic work!  I am sure that there was plenty of research that they had to do to create such an extensive selection of masterful nostalgic works of art!       The design quality was easy to see in the pictures.  The descriptions of the ingredients and flavors of each cake really took the cake!  The flavors of the cakes were well thought out too!       Since I completed the Baking and Pastry arts course at the Cordon Bleu Chef School, I do have some recently acquired insight as to recognizing well crafted baked goods.  The products that the Retro Bakery are  "A-1" in quality!     For nostalgic relic cupcakes, special occasion cakes and modern creative cakes, I highly recommend going to the Retro Bakery!  The Retro Bakery truly impressed me with what they have to offer.  They chose a good theme and perfected that theme!  The Retro Bakery is one of the finest bakeries in Las Vegas!  Yum!  ...  Shawna
